The Self motivated lady i know. She can find a reason and strength to do anything, even when challenging, without giving up or needing another to encourage her.
Short description of yourself.
Maud Esinam Sosu is my name. A young and beautiful entrepreneur of 28 years of age. I am also a professional librarian. I am the CEO of Maudy Ushering Agency and Maudyz Collections.
What motivated you to start your business?
I might say my late mum motivated me to start my business. I never knew I had such talents. I was passing by in my neighborhood one hot afternoon and saw a friend making beaded slippers in her salon. I entered the salon to say hello and was chit chatting with her, then a customer entered to make her hair. So I opted to assist complete the slippers because she was confused as to what design she should make. I made the slippers with ease and I was amazed myself…..so I rushed home to break the good news to my mum that I made a beaded slippers and she asked, “So why don’t you start this as a business you will make a lot of money out of it”. I took that advice and started the business.

What were the first and few steps you took to get your business up and running?
I started buying my materials little by little by the time i realized I got a name for my business, Maudyz Collections.
For the Ushering agency, I realized I had a passion to serve at weddings and help coordinate and plan events when I was deeply thinking about a friend’s wedding and wondering how she’s going to manage everything. I ended up dreaming about it. So I told my best friend about it and she was happy and agreed we start it at once and here we are today. I thank God for giving me such gifts and ideas. I also thank God for my late mum even though she’s no more to see how far her advice went and my best friend who is now family. God bless you so much Mercy Asiedu-Baffoe.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
Through friends and social medial that is whatsApp status and profile pictures, Instagram and Facebook.
What has been your biggest challenge so far running your business?
Not having any helping hand to assist in large orders and time because combining my business and my corporate job is tedious. But I never give up.
How did u overcome these challenges?
I always overcome by working extra hours at home after closing from work and sometimes late in the night to achieve results and meet deadlines. And my best friend is very supportive always ready to assist.
What do u love about running your own business?
What I love about running my own business is the fact that I have all the time to myself and I meet new people day in day out. I also get the chance to discover new ideas. Also earning income out of my intellectual.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
The fact that I have a dream and want to reach that goal keeps me going and motivated through difficult times.
Do you have a business philosophy?
Yes. Above all, creating something I’ll be proud of.
Greatest fear?
Fear of failure. Failing to do something a customer wants.
Most courageous thing you have ever done.
Taking risk. A customer wants something at all cost. I know I can’t do it or I fear I can’t do it yet the customer still wants me to do it and believes in me that I can make it. So I took the risk to create it and it comes out perfect.
What do you believe?
I believe in myself, I believe I have a positive self-worth (self-esteem) and self-image. I believe my efforts will pay off. I believe anything is possible. I believe if you never dream you’ll never have a dream to come true.
What are some lessons learnt so far.
- I notice my “a-ha!” moments
- I face my fear of failure
- I seek advisers to help me guide my growth
- I invest profits back to my business
- I never give up
Any business quote?
“Action is the foundamental key to all success” Thus if you have a dream, you can never achieve it if you don’t take a step. That dream will only come true if you act on it.
Advice to other entrepreneurs.
I have a lot of advice for other entrepreneurs but I’ll give three;
1. Business opportunities are like buses, there is always another one coming so you need to be prepared at all time and not focus on what went wrong previously.
2. Analyze your competition, because competition breeds the best results. To be successful, you cannot be afraid to study and learn from your competitors.
3. Get organized. To be successful in business you need to be organized because organization will help you complete tasks and stay on top of things to be done.
